Field Strength Measurements
We can provide confirmation of the as-built performance of your RF infrastructure through either drone or vehicle based measurements as desired. Drone based measurements are best to confirm that the antenna’s radiation pattern is as designed since it can effectively remove the ground reflection component. In most cases this is now the preferred way of measuring in-situ field strength. In some cases where it is desired to understand local influences on reception, a ground-based measurement plan can be designed and implemented.
Transmission System Troubleshooting and Maintenance
We have extensive experience in both pre-failure measurements and post-failure forensic diagnosis of transmission system problems involving antennas, transmission lines and combiners.
Unfortunately, at some time or another almost all broadcast RF systems have some
failure due to the high-power levels and the extreme environmental conditions
involved. Having us review the failure and determining the root cause can be critical to
ensuring that it does not repeat and that your system returns to the air as quickly and
cost effectively as possible.
Measurements In conjunction with Shulins Solutions, we offer a drone based temperature measurement and visual inspection program for your RF infrastructure assets. We obtain any necessary clearances and arrive on site to completely profile your tower and the antennas and transmission lines on it with both visible and infrared cameras. This profile is reviewed by our RF experts on site at the time and areas of concern can be highlighted and further studied. By viewing all the antennas/transmission lines on a particular tower and by performing several tower studies on one trip, we can efficiently share the costs of the service amongst a number of tenants/services.
